Artist of the Week 30
Sadie Valeri is an internationally recognized classical oil painter based in San Francisco, California. Her paintings, evocative of the Dutch Golden Age of still life, have shown at prestigious galleries across the United States and Europe, attracting significant honors.
Valeri earned her B.F.A. in Illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design. She continued her education with living masters of classical realism including Ted Seth Jacobs, Juliette Aristides, Michael Grimaldi, Studio Escalier in France, and the Hudson River Fellowship with Jacob Collins.
As director of her private art school from 2009-2019, Sadie Valeri Atelier, Valeri gained a reputation as one of the leading instructors of painting and drawing in the classical tradition in the United States.
Valeri started teaching in 2009 with five private students in her San Francisco living room. In 2011, Valeri and her husband, Nowell, expanded and incorporated the school as Sadie Valeri Atelier. Due to an overwhelming demand for high quality, realistic art instruction, the studio expanded several times, and by 2017 Sadie Valeri Atelier offered classes to 150 students a week, with six instructors teaching in her 3,500 square foot Potero Hill studio. In addition to developing a strong Bay Area following, students traveled to study at the atelier from across North America and from as far away as Europe, China and New Zealand.
“My dream was to build a community of like-minded artists. I am so proud, and so honored, that together we did just that. My dream has been fully realized, and to a degree far greater than I ever dared hope for, thanks to all of you. I look forward to continuing to support one another as we all work towards our artistic dreams.”
